The Gunners will hope to avoid any further officiating controversies as they attempt to seal a place in the last 16 with two games to spare

It is the Gunners' first match since the controversial fallout from Saturday's maiden Premier League defeat of the season at Newcastle, after which an angry Mikel Arteta launched into a furious tirade blasting the state of officiating in the English game and was later backed up by a remarkable public statement from the club.

Arsenal will hope for no more refereeing complaints on the continent, with a place in the last 16 potentially up for grabs this evening.

Arteta's injury-hit side would seal progress through to the knockout stages of Europe's elite club competition with two games to spare if they were to beat Sevilla again and Lens overcame PSV Eindhoven in the other Group B fixture over in the Netherlands.

Where to watch Arsenal vs Sevilla

TV channel: In the UK, tonight's game will be televised live on TNT Sports 2, with coverage beginning at 7pm GMT ahead of an 8pm kick-off.

Arsenal will be aiming for a measure of revival when they welcome Sevilla at the Emirates Stadium for a Champions League fixture on Wednesday.

Mikel Arteta's men are unbeaten in Group B having picked up a 2-1 victory against Sevilla in the previous UCL gameweek.

However, the Gunners not only suffered their first Premier League loss of the season in Saturday's 1-0 result at Newcastle United but were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup following a 3-1 defeat at the hands of West Ham.

Meanwhile, following the Arsenal loss, Diego Alonso's men have registered draws against Cadiz and Celta Vigo in La Liga around making progress in Copa del Rey with a 3-0 win over Quintanar.

Martin Odegaard, who was not included in the tie at St. James' Park, remains a doubt with a hip problem.

The injury list has the names of all Thomas Partey, Emile Smith Rowe, Jurrien Timber and Gabriel Jesus on it, while the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira and Leandro Trossard can see themselves starting on Wednesday.

Alonso will be able to avail the services of Sergio Ramos and Fernando if the duo is able to shake off their calf and back issues, respectively.

Goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic is also back from a finger sprain, but Marcao and Alfonso Pastor are sure to miss out through injuries.

Youssef En-Nesyri is in fine form and is likely to start ahead of Mariano Diaz in attack, while Dodi Lukebakio could get the nod over Oliver Torres.

Mikel Arteta's side have picked up six points from three Champions League clashes so far in 2023/24, including a superb 2-1 win away at Sevilla in October, and a victory in this game would virtually confirm their knockout stage place.

However, a controversial 1-0 Premier League defeat to Newcastle was not the warm-up Arteta would have wanted for his team ahead of this tie, with Sevilla snatching a 1-1 draw away at Celta Vigo in their weekend league game.

Mikel Arteta’s side have lost their last two matches following their Carabao Cup exit at West Ham last week and a controversial first defeat of the Premier League season away to Newcastle on Saturday.

Arsenal are in a strong position in their Champions League group after securing an important 2-1 win in Seville last time out - a result that left the Gunners top of Group B, a point ahead of second-placed Lens and four clear of both Seville and PSV.

Arsenal want to return to winning ways against Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League after the disappointment of the weekend’s loss at Newcastle. Mikel Arteta’s side were impressive in their away game in Seville, however, they remain without Gabriel Jesus.

Arteta confirmed the Brazilian striker would be missing for the match in midweek. Martin Odegaard remains a doubt after he missed the trip to Tyneside. Both Emile Smith Rowe and Thomas Partey are also long-term absentees.

Sevilla meanwhile are missing three key players in goalkeeper Orjan Nyland, World Cup winner Marcos Acuna and main man Sergio Ramos. Arsenal will hope to take advantage of the weakened La Liga side who are still without a win in their league since the appointment of Diego Alonso – drawing 2-2 with Cadiz and 1-1 with ten-man Celta Vigo in the two matches since the defeat to the Gunners.

A win would give the Gunners nine points from 12 and there’s potential to confirm qualification to the knockout round should RC Lens beat PSV in their Group B match. Certainly, something which would create a scenario to take pressure off the final two games.
